Circe (Greek: Κίρκη') was a powerful witch who lived beyond the walls of the City of Atlantis on a mountain top nearby. She was one of the Witches of Caucus.
Biography
Hercules visited her once in her cave to ask for her assistance in allowing Medusa to fall in love with him. She gave him a jar which contained the Song of the Sirens, a powerful enchantment, which she warned would be unbelievably powerful to use. However, she was happy for Hercules to take it.
He returned later as she suspected and claimed that she had killed Medusa. She explained to Hercules that her plan was nothing to do with Hercules, but instead, she wanted to get closer to his friends. She captured him and turned him into a Pig.
From afar, she watched as Pythagoras and Jason neared her cave and decided to unleash a monster from her pool. Jason entered her cave and pleaded that she release the curse on both Medusa and Hercules and return them to normal. To do this, Circe wanted Jason to do something. She believed that he was the important factor of her whole plan. She demanded from Jason that he kill her sister, Pasiphae. When he agreed, she sealed the deal under the sight of the gods, by stamping his arm with a symbol. (The Song of the Sirens)
Circe travelled to the City of Atlantis to give a message to Jason that prompted him to bring forward the killing of her sister Pasiphae. Jason later came to her cave to explain that he was unable to kill her. She warned him of the consequences and after he asked her to kill him, she used her magic to attack. Jason dodged her attack and drawing his Sword he jumped at her to kill her. But she disappeared into thin air, she then used magic to cast an illusion of two extra forms to trick the warrior, Jason threw his sword but chose the wrong one, his sword just passed through the illusion. She continued to attack, teasing Jason as he couldn't tell which was the right one, however Jason then threw a knife into the real Circe, as she was the only one who cast a reflection in her pool. Circe was stabbed and killed, but before dying she discarded the Dragons teeth into the ground while speaking a spell. These grew three Skeletons, which attacked Jason and his friends. (Touched by the Gods Part 1)
Personality
Circe was, like her sister, sinister, cold, cunning, cold-blooded, arrogant, intelligent and callous. She was clearly a psychopath and had no qualms in sacrificing other people's lives if it meant she would achieve her labyrinthine goals. She was sadistic, bitter and cruel towards others and had very little qualms about who she affected in her plans. She was also manipulative and mysterious, as the only trace of her past is that she is Pasiphae's sister.
Powers and Abilities
Circe was an extremely powerful witch, showing immense talent in various methods of sorcery. The most promising of these is her affinity for illusion, but Jason eventually manages to overlook this and finally defeat her.
- Spell Casting: The act of changing and controlling events by magical influence. Circe was able to turn Hercules in to a Pig and unleash a Monster from her pool.
- Telekinesis: The act of controlling and manipulating the movements of objects and persons. She used this to overpower Hercules, and later toss spears at Jason to try and kill him.
- Precognition: The act of foreseeing future events and happenings.
- Potion Making: The act of brewing and concocting supernatural elixirs and potions that contain mystical properties.
- Teleportation: The act of travelling from one place to another, without crossing the distance in between. Circe used this to avoid Jason's initial attack.
- Illusion Casting: The act of casting illusions, things that seem real but have no substance. She used this to fool Jason when facing him.
Greek Mythology
