Map Action is a gameplay element in the Tales series. It generally replaces Sorcerer's Ring and its functions where said object is not available.
Appearances in Original Titles
Tales of Zestiria
In Tales of Zestiria, Map Actions are used to interact with the field. After Sorey becomes the Shepherd, he acquires special field actions pertaining to each of the four elements his seraphim companions are associated with. If the action is used on an enemy that is weak to the element, the resulting battle begins with said enemy inflicted with that element's respective status ailment.
- Sword Swing (剣振り?) - Sorey's default map action that can be used used to remove obstacles in his path.
- Silver Flame (白銀の焔?) - A Fire-elemental map action that allows Sorey to light up torch-like objects or purify localized malevolence.
- Wind Rush (瞬天の迅?) - A Wind-elemental map action that allows the user a short-range teleportation.
- Spectral Cloak (霊霧の衣?) - A Water-elemental map action that allows the user sneak by enemies that use sight to detect their opponent.
- Giant's Strength (巨魁の腕?) - An Earth-elemental map action that allows the user to smash large boulders and other solid objects that block their path.
