Waylon Jones

Waylon Jones,^[1] also known as Killer Croc, was a former wrestler and enemy of Batman. Eventually, he was killed by the Gotham City Police Department.

Biography

Original multiverse

In 2019, Kate Kane jokingly asked Reagan if Killer Croc was the one that told her about Batwoman "doing" Batman.^[2]

New multiverse

Waylon Jones was once a professional wrestler who suffered from an unidentified infection that caused his skin to grow scales. As the infection progressed, other abnormalities began to appear, making him resemble a crocodile. He also developed violent and cannibalistic tendencies. He killed several people in his rampage, and Jones was dubbed by the media as "Killer Croc".

Waylon's homicidal inclinations made him an enemy of Batman. However, Bruce Wayne took pity on him, believing his actions were the result of the infection and even had Wayne Tech labs working on figuring out a way to cure him. However, they found nothing.

Eventually, the GCPD found Waylon, but instead of capturing him they dropped a "truck load" of thermite into the sewer junction, right on top of him creating an explosion that presumably killed him and left behind nothing of him except a tooth.^[1]

Legacy

Batman found Waylon's tooth, which was later stored in the Batcave. In 2021 the tooth was stolen by "Circe Sionis" along with other objects from defeated villains, on behalf of Roman Sionis and Safiyah Sohail.^[3]

The tooth along; with the other Bat trophies were dropped; into Gotham River during a battle between "Circe", Ryan Wilder and Alice. It was later swallowed by a Bluegill fish.

The Bluegill was caught; by Steven and Mason during their father-son fishing trip and the tooth was cut out of it. Steven tried to make a necklace out of it; but cut himself on the tooth, infecting him; with Jones's condition and turning him; into the new Killer Croc.^[1]

Powers and abilities

Powers

• Meta-human/Reptilian physiology: Due to an unidentified infection, Waylon developed a reptilian biology with enhanced psychical attributes.^[1]
  • Sharpened fangs and claws: Waylon had sharp reptile-like fangs and claws that he used in battle.^[1]
  • Infection: When being scratched by Killer Croc's tooth, anyone has their physiology changed and is transformed into a creature just like Killer Croc.^[1]

Abilities

• Peak of human physical condition: Waylon was a champion professional wrestler in peak physical condition.
• Expert hand-to-hand combatant: Waylon was familiar with professional wrestling techniques. After he was infected, he became a criminal.

• In the DC Comics, Waylon Jones, known as Killer Croc, is an enemy of Batman who was born with a type of atavism that caused his skin to regress and turn him into a crocodile-like person. He debuted in Detective Comics #523 (February, 1983).
