Jarhanpurium

"Well, that solves two problems. Now, if only we knew how to make Lex mortal again. We need his kryptonite."
"Not kryptonite—jarhanpurium. Fragments of that planet must have made it to Earth. It would be toxic to Lex; just like kryptonite is to Supergirl."
M'gann M'orzz and Querl Dox[src]

Jarhanpurium is a mineral from the destroyed planet Jarhanpur that affects Jarhanpurians in a manner similar to the way that kryptonite affects Kryptonians.

History

In early 2020, Brainy managed to modify a computer code that Winslow Schott Sr. had used to partially digitize his conscious;[1] effectively allowing Schott to live on in digital space after his death (though Winslow later died for good when he was deleted from digital space while helping his son battle an evil doppelgänger of the latter's),[2] which Brainy and Lex intended to use to render Leviathan vulnerable. However, as Brainy stated, due Leviathan's powers of physical invulnerability, it'd be practically impossible to inject Leviathan with the code without weakening them first. As Lex summarized the situation, they'd have to find "[Leviathan's] version of kryptonite".[1]

Later, after Lex Luthor absorbed the powers of Rama Khan, Sela, and Tezumak through an experiment, the Superfriends needed to come up with a way to strip him of the Jarhanpurian powers he'd acquired in order to stop him. They ultimately concluded that they needed "Lex's kryptonite". Brainy then specified that they needed jarhanpurium, which would now prove toxic to Lex (just as kryptonite is to Kryptonians), and thus, could be used to de-power him. A vision Dreamer had that included a kryptonite-green bottle (the bottle that Brainy had used to contain Rama Khan, Sela, and Tezumak) told the team that they may be able to find said bottle at Shelley Island. Lena was confident that she'd be able to run the bottle's energy through the same machine she used to make kryptonite, enabling her to synthesize the jarhanpurium they'd need to stop Lex. After they retrieved the bottle and Lena successfully fabricated the substance, the team confronted Lex at the Fortress of Solitude.

Jarhanpurium strips Lex of Leviathan powers

Nia tried using the jarhanpurium against Lex, but the gun it had been loaded into failed to work. In the ensuing fight, Alex was able to blast Lex with the mineral by using the Hand of the soldier; thus depriving Lex of his powers—but not before the latter managed to use the Phantom Zone projector to banish Supergirl to the Phantom Zone.[3]
