- "The worst part of my resurrection was finding myself buried in an impenetrable tomb. It took me 700 years to dig myself out. The best part of my resurrection was the sword I was buried with."
- —Genghis Khan[src]
The Hell sword[1] was a weapon that could destroy those who were stabbed with it in a burst of hellfire.
History
It was buried with Genghis Khan upon his death in the thirteenth century, and gained its powers after Genghis's resurrection as an Encore due to Astra Logue releasing his soul from hell. Genghis used it to kill a cop in front of Charlie (who was in disguise), alerting the Legends to its powers. Charlie eventually got ahold of the sword and used it to kill Khan. Charlie then took it back with her to the Waverider.[2]
After Damien Darhk was resurrected as an Encore, he returned to 2020 to check in on Nora. Knowing that he'd violated the conditions of his Encore (being restored to life in order to send more souls to hell), after Ray and Nora's wedding, Damien used the sword to kill himself.[1]
Sara Lance carrying the sword found Atropos attempting to exit the Waverider with two fragments of the Loom of Fate; a fight occurred where Atropos was able to grab the blade without harm to her hand to stop Sara's assault. Sara tried again to kill the god by stabbing her abdomen, but Atropos was unaffected and slapped the sword into a nearby wall. Sara told Gideon to open the bay door to expel the Fate, but Atropos grabbed her ankle to keep from being sucked inot the Temporal zone. Clotho soon entered, assessed the situation, and used the sword to cut off Atropos' hand, saving Sara and the Loom fragments.[3]
When Lachesis sent several Encores after the Legends, the group had trouble eliminating the Encores, due to the fact that the weapons available to them weren't hell weapons. Charlie and Lita then arrived on the scene, tossing the team several hell weapons they'd acquired previously. Mick wielded the hell sword during the fight.[4]
