Dr. Darlene Irons[1] is a resident of Metropolis and the sister of the late John Henry Irons.
Biography
Early life
Darlene and her brother John were close as children, being nicknamed the "Wonder Twins" by their father. In adulthood, they followed their father's footsteps and joined the army, but Darlene eventually left the military and became a doctor on Metropolis, but her brother got involved with some criminals and was suspected of arms trafficking. He was later murdered on July 7, 2015 by an unknown individual and the case was never resolved.[1][2]
Being followed
In July 2021, Darlene exited a taxi cab and began walking towards her townhouse. She was spotted by a doppelgänger of her late brother, who wanted to make contact with her because she was also the doppelgänger of his sister, but he was distracted by a call from Lois Lane.[3]
Meeting Lois Lane
A year later, Lois Lane sought out Darlene while investigating John's death, making an appointment at her clinic under the alias "Ginger Metcalfe". She initially refused to talk with Lois about John's death, but eventually she opened up about her brother's dark past. Later, Darlene called Lois to address her abnormality that appeared to be a pregnancy,[4] but in fact she had cancer.[5]
Meeting her brother's doppelgänger
Darlene was eventually found by an alternate version of her brother from another Earth. Later, Darlene was kidnapped by Intergang at the behest of Bruno Mannheim and tied to a bomb that was previously made by John. Fortunately, John's doppelgänger was able to locate her and disarm the bomb in time.[1] Later, Darlene told John that the restaurant Matteo took Natalie to meet his parents in Hobbs Bay was where her brother met Bruno.[6]
