Golden Kamuy (ゴールデンカムイ, Gōruden Kamui)) is a manga by Satoru Noda. It began its serialization in the manga anthology Weekly Young Jump in August 2014, and is currently ongoing. Viz Media has licensed the manga for release in English.
An anime adaptation, produced by Geno Studio, premiered on April 9th, 2018, and followed with a second season on October 8th, 2018. A third season premiered on October 5th, 2020.
Plot
In the early twentieth century, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi "Immortal" Sugimoto is drawn to the wilderness of Hokkaido during the gold rush, in search of gold to help support his deceased friend's widow. During his search, he stumbles upon part of a map, tattooed onto the bodies of criminals, that is said to lead to a stash of hidden gold. Teaming up with an Ainu girl who saves him in the wilderness, Asirpa, he sets off to find the gold, facing both the harsh wilderness and cutthroat criminals.
