― Nan, New Horizons

Nan (スミ, Sumi?) is a normal goat villager who first appeared in Animal Forest e+. Her name may be a shortened form of "nanny", a word for a female goat, and her catchphrase, "kid", could relate to a baby goat, which is called a kid. Her picture quote has a play on words - Nanny Nanny boo boo - is the skipping song, or in some cases a way of taunting - she uses it because an adult female goat is called a Nanny goat. She has the nature hobby.

Nan is a black goat with pale-pink freckles on her cheeks. The insides of her ears are pink, and her horns are striped orange and yellow. She has a curl of hair on her head which is colored a dull brown-orange. Her hooves and tail are colored the same, and the tip of her tail fades back into the same black as the rest of her body. House

In Animal Forest e+, Nan's house has a few Cabana items, such as a Cabana Screen, and two Cabana Chairs. She also has many plants and a Retro Stereo which plays K.K. Chorale. There are two conga drums in the bottom left corner. Her wallpaper is the Library Wall, and her flooring is the Modern Tile.

In Wild World, Nan's house has changed quite a bit from her last appearance. She now has some items from the Blue Series, such as the dresser, and the bookcase. She also has a bug, and a Retro TV, as well as a Regal Lamp. Nan has no stereo at first, but when she obtains one, it will play Steep Hill. Her wallpaper and flooring are the same as Animal Forest e+, the Library Wall, and the Modern Tile.

In City Folk, Nan's house is very similar to her house in Wild World, the only difference being that she has more furniture. She now has another Blue item, the Blue Bench, and a Classic Bed. She also has gotten rid of her bug, instead choosing to put a telescope in its place. She still has no stereo, but she will play Steep Hill when she obtains one, just like in Wild World. Her wallpaper and flooring are still the same.

In New Leaf, Nan's house has once again changed drastically from the last game. It now has a very posh, and elegant feel, due to her use of the Gorgeous Series. She displays a bonsai, and a Rococo Lamp on top of her Gorgeous Table, and she has an Editors Chair, set up near an Editors Desk. She also has two instruments, the ebony piano, and the cello, and a Retro Stereo playing K.K. Étude. Her wallpaper and flooring have changed from the past three games, they are now the Plaza Wall and the Charcoal Tile.

In New Horizons, Nan's house has a similar feel to her home in New Leaf, but with different items. Like in Animal Forest e+, her home has multiple Cabana items (now renamed "Rattan") colored black. Like New Leaf, she has a large piano in the upper right corner of the room, now with a proper piano stool. Hanging above her bed is Chevre's picture, implying some kind of connection between the two. Her wallpaper is the Black Botanical Tile Wall and her flooring is the White Iron-Parquet Flooring.

Trivia

  • In New Horizons, Nan has Chevre's picture up on her wall, while Chevre has a picture of Nan. This is in reference to a Japanese children's song, "Goat Mail" (yagi-san yūbin), starring a black goat and a white goat. This song is also the inspiration for her Pocket Camp bio. Additionally, their house interiors appear to be inverted versions of each other.
  • Nan's amiibo card erroneously displays her with a beard, which is typically a feature only male goat villagers (and only one female goat villager) have.
  • Nan shares her birthday with Jacob, the lazy bird villager. They both have a birthday on August 24th.
  • In New Horizons, Nan's preferred styles are Elegant/Simple, and her preferred colors are Orange/Yellow.
