Patience when ye're poor, frugality when ye're not
― Grams, Welcome amiibo and Happy Home Designer

Grams (ゲコ, Geko?) is a green turtle (kappa in the Japanese version) that appears in New Leaf, and she is Kapp'n's mother, Leilani's mother-in-law, and Leila's grandmother. Along with the rest of her family, she works at Tortimer Island; specifically, she sells souvenirs.

Appearance

Grams wears a yellow, floral dress, and has a piece of coral in her hair. Her white hair is parted, as with everyone else in her family, and while her skin is paler than the others, her shell is still dark green. She has wrinkles on her face and pursed lips. Her other features resemble those of Kapp'n.

Role

In New Leaf

Grams works at the island along with her family. She sells items that cannot be obtained elsewhere, including aloha shirts, wetsuits, themed furniture such as the Mermaid and Cabana Series, and more. When the player speaks to her, she will inform them that she does not accept Bells; she will accept medals, which can be earned by going on tours, information on which can be obtained by talking to Leilani.

In New Horizons

Initially absent along with the rest of Kapp'n's family, Grams is able to be summoned through the use of amiibo as of Version 2.0.0. She can be invited to The Roost by using either her amiibo card or that of another family member. Like other NPCs, she can also be called to either Photopia or Paradise Planning.
