Stam was an Umbrite and a weapons officer on the Andromeda Ascendant. While he rarely spoke, he was saddened by the death of his co-gunner Thompson. Stam then evacuated the ship with the majority of the crew.
His fate is unknown, but by the time Andromeda was rescued by the Eureka Maru he was most certainly dead.
He is seen two more times throughout the series in flashbacks and tesseracts.
