You know, I never figured out why you moved here.
No, I guess not.- ― Jake Fischer and Ellen Adams
Ellen Adams is a major character appearing in the Bright Falls mini-series. She was a resident of Bright Falls who worked as an intern for the The Bright Falls Record, and was an acquaintance of reporter Jake Fischer. Adams disappeared on late August, 2010, shortly before the Bright Falls AWE of said year, and was last seen driving Fischer away from the town before the latter had another one of his "blackouts". Her current whereabouts and status are unknown.
Appearance
Ellen Adams is a Caucasian, red-headed woman with green eyes. When she met with Jake Fischer at the Oh Deer Diner, she was wearing a purple blouse, a black pencil skirt, and black heels. Days later, when she and Fischer met at the Bright Falls Record, she wore a white and light-blue squared shirt, black pants, and black shoes. On their final encounter, Adams was wearing a light blue t-shirt underneath a khaki-colored jacket, and white flat shoes.
Personality
While it is unknown if the two were ever in a relationship or if her feelings were only one-sided, it seems that Ellen Adams still harbors feelings for Jake Fischer even after the latter got married. When Fischer arrived at the Oh Deer Diner for their meeting, Adams was excited to see him, and had dressed with attractive clothes and put on makeup for the occasion. However, when Fischer merely greeted her with a handshake, Adams was disappointed, though she tried to hide it. When their meeting ended, she returned him the handshake. As one of her comments suggests, it is possible that this unrequited love and Fischer marrying another woman were the reason behind her decision to move to Bright Falls. Nevertheless, Adams was willing to help Fischer during his visit to Bright Falls.
It appears that Adams is at least partially aware that something supernatural occurs in the area Bright Falls, with her claiming that being in the town “gets into your head”, and urging Fischer to leave as soon as possible, though is unknown if she knows about the existence of the Dark Presence or the effect Cauldron Lake has on works of art.
Biography
Early Life
Ellen Adams was an acquaintance of Jake Fischer. At some point of her life, she moved to Bright Falls, Washington, and began working at the town's newspaper, The Bright Falls Record, as an intern under the editorship of Cynthia Weaver.[1]
Jake Fischer's visit to Bright Falls

In late August, 2010, when Fischer traveled to Bright Falls for work, he and Adams arranged to meet at the Oh Deer Diner. When Fischer arrived at the diner, Adams weaved at him and excitedly got up from her seat to greet him. However, she was disappointed when he greeted her back with a mere handshake, though she tried to hide it. Sitting at the table, the two began chatting, with Adams asking Fischer about his wife, Libby, to which the latter answered with "good" before also adding "the same". She tried to inquire more before deciding to change the topic to Fischer's work trip to Bright Falls. As the meeting went on, Fischer commented that he never understood why she decided to move to the town, to which Adams replied with "No, I guess not". Her phone then started vibrating and she told him that she had to leave due to "deadlines". Before leaving, Adams told Fischer that he could seek her should he need anything and that it was great to see him, returning him the handshake.[2]

The following day, while she was hanging out with her co-workers at the The Bright Falls Record, Adams received a surprise visit by Fischer, who asked her to speak in private. He explained her about the blackout and visions he experienced during his interview with Dr. Hartman, the strange notes and drawings he found in his notepad, and the fact that he woke up in the woods with his hands covered in red "mud". She sarcastically asked him if he was making pottery in his sleep before stating that staying in Bright Falls “just gets into your head”. Fischer then stated that he was done with the story, to which she coldly told him that she knows. Outside the office, Adams once again let him know that he can call her should he need anything and the two hugged. She then advised him to leave the town as soon as he finished the story and return home to clear his mind. Fischer stated that that was why he had traveled to Bright Falls in the first place, but Adams insisted that he should leave.[3]

Some days later, while Adams was talking on the phone outside the Bright Falls Record, Fischer suddenly pulled up in his car and, without giving her any explanation, asked her to drive him out of Bright Falls. As they approached the edge of the town, Adams asked him to explain what was happening and why he could not have driven himself, to which Fischer told her that he was "not in control". She then asked him to elaborate, but Fischer did not respond and stared at her blankly. After he regained consciousness, Fischer found himself on the driver seat, driving back to Bright Falls, with no trace of Adams except for one of her shoes, stained with blood. Fischer would disappear not long afterwards and his car would be found by local authorities.[4]
