The Strange Familiar was a band from Season 5 of America's Got Talent. It was eliminated in the Quarterfinals.
Background
After growing up in the same small town of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, husband Jeff and wife Kira found their passion for music. In the 8th grade Kira requested to be the lead singer in Jeff's band. After an impromptu audition on the playground, Jeff asked her to join. Over the next 10 years they continued to write songs and perform hundreds of gigs throughout the midwest. The Strange Familiar formed in 2006 when the couple met bassist, Frank Freeman, at a local gig. They soon moved to Los Angeles where they caught up with an old friend from Ohio, Nicholas Sainato. He then became the drummer and completed the lineup. Struggling to make ends meet, the band recorded an EP and took another step toward their dream when they auditioned for America's Got Talent. 1
