Philip Weiner

Philip Weiner was a singer and dancer from Season 3 of America's Got Talent. He was eliminated in the audition round.

Background

As a child, Philip Weiner would sing in talent shows in school and in camp. He also liked to watch TV, especially cartoons and children shows. He was told he resembled Jerry Lewis, something he is still told. Philip had seen him on TV shows but really got to know him in 1959 on his annual MDA Telethon.  Philip wanted to do a telethon just like Jerry Lewis and really wanted to be in show business.

He soon found out that Sam Levenson lived near him. Philip became good friends with Sam's daughter for a few years and hoped her father would help me get in to show business, but then Philip let the show business idea go and did not think about it for the next 30 years.

In 1989, as a family man with one son, Philip belonged to Temple Sinai in Middletown, NY. The cantor invited him to join his choir, and soon, the cantor gave him voice lessons. On 4/11/92, Philip was introduced to karaoke also at Temple Sinai at a 50s/60s dance and karaoke party. He had great fun, inspiring him to continue pursuing karaoke.

In 2000, Carl Richards wrote four songs for Philip to record "The Mr. Phil Dance," a comedy song with a bunch of little children jumping up and down. Then in 2004, Rich Brown who moved to Los Angeles, CA., called Philip and invited him to appear on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on 3/30/04. Philip remembers the experience as one of the greatest days of his life so far as he had been chosen out of thousands of people to be on Jimmy's show.

Philip is in the process of recording another CD of original songs written by Carl Richards, which will be named "Mr. Phil Goes Country." 1

Audition
