Background

Nick Afanasiev (born 29 July 1989) is a Russian-born American actor. He was born in Moscow and moved to the United States at the age of seven. He is known for having one of the longest tongues in the world. Afanasiev's tongue measures nine centimeters (3.54 inches), and is considered the longest tongue in America.

His tongue has been showcased on numerous television shows around the world. He performs tricks such as licking his elbow, licking his eye, text messaging with his tongue, and licking ice cream from the tip of his nose. [1]

Audition

Nick Afanasiev's audition in Episode 301 consisted of sticking his tongue out and stretching it so it could reach his nose and eye. Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and David Hasselhoff all buzzed the act. David and at least one other judge voted "No", eliminating Nick from the competition.

After the Show

In 2008, a video featuring Afanasiev’s tongue became an internet sensation. In response to the popularity of the video, Afanasiev was featured on the Nickelodeon show iCarly. In addition to iCarly, Afanasiev has appeared on television shows around the world, including The Tyra Banks Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and TruTV's Smoking Gun Presents. Afanasiev has starred in independent films, television pilots, an episode of Animal Planet's Killer Outbreaks, and commercials for CCM Hockey Gear, Cornetto Ice Cream, Mopar, etc. In 2011, he starred in The Asylum film, 2012: Ice Age.
